Dr. Phyllis Addo

Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition Policy

Phyllis Addo is a public health nutrition lecturer at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). She holds a PhD in Nutrition and Food Safety from Sichuan University’s West China School of Public Health and both a Bachelor’s and a Master of Philosophy in Nutrition from the University of Ghana.

Her research focuses on child and adolescent nutrition, the food environment, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with an emphasis on policy actions to control unhealthy diets and related NCDs within the broader food systems context.

Beyond academia, Phyllis co-founded Rhema Engineering Solutions Limited, a company specializing in solar energy and energy-efficient LED lighting, established in 2016. Her efforts have earned her recognition, including being a finalist at the Africa Women Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) 2022 Young Entrepreneur awards and grant from the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre. Phyllis is also a mentor and advocate for the youth, especially young women, in Ghana, aiming to empower them with skills for a sustainable and prosperous future.
