Dr. Collins G. Hodoli

Air Pollution, Environment and Agrifood Research

Dr. Collins Gameli Hodoli holds a joint position between the University of Georgia, Athens, USA, where he works as an air pollution research scholar, and the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Eastern Region Ghana, where he is a Lecturer in SMART Technologies.

Dr. Hodoli’s unwavering dedication is evident in his research, which is focused on the utility of micro air sensors for high-density air quality networks. He applies high-resolution data from these networks for source feature extraction of pollutants in environments where these data will be more desirable for air pollution management and control.

His innovative approach, based on the widely used “open-air” packages for emission source identification with miniaturized air sensor data, is a testament to his creativity. This approach supports the development, implementation, and tracking of air pollution mitigation strategies in logistically difficult environments. The research involves an interdisciplinary approach to air pollution leveraging citizen science, “IoT,” “DIY,” and the application of state-of-the-art technologies for social intervention programs and environmental justice, such as clean cooking, sustainability science initiatives at schools, and integration of air pollution knowledge into healthcare delivery.

He holds a PhD in Environment and Agrifood from Cranfield University, UK, and as leisure, loves taking walks in the woods, writing, listening to music, and volunteering.
