Our Ecovillage

The WildRain Ecovillage is nestled in a breathtaking 150-acre landscape in the hills of Akwamu-Kwanyarko, offering a pristine environment ripe for sustainable development. Our vision extends beyond the borders of this land; we aspire to create transformative benefits for Ghana’s 30 million residents and the entire African continent. To bring this vision to life, we are actively seeking funding to realize three pivotal projects:
  1. Mushroom Lab and Training Facility: This state-of-the-art facility will empower local growers with the expertise needed to produce premium-quality spawns while pioneering innovative approaches to minimize environmental impact of growing mushrooms. A processing unit will form part of the facility, adding value to our mushrooms by turning them into healthy snacks and lunch options for school children to improve nutrition.  By establishing the Asuogyaman district as a hub for sustainable mushroom cultivation and processing, we aim to tackle food security, and improve nutrition and health.
  2. Agroecological Training and Resource Centre: Dedicated to nurturing smallholder farmers, this centre will provide comprehensive training and resources in agroecology (including agroforestry) and sustainable agricultural practices. A collaborative space for farmers, researchers, experts, and practitioners, it will elevate the knowledge and capacity of farmers, amplifying our impact throughout the district and fostering nationwide food partnerships.
  3. A Sanctuary for Regenerative Living and Intercultural Hospitality: Our ecovillage promises a safe space for activists, artists, researchers, entrepreneurs, change makers and organizations seeking relaxation, rejuvenation, and a deep connection to nature. Guests will savor delicious meals made from fresh produce cultivated on-site while soaking in the stunning vistas that surround them, making it an idyllic retreat in the countryside.

The Vision

1. A community-driven systems approach to agrifood transformation.
2. Nurturing land and people, enhancing farmer resilience, restoring biodiversity and regenerating soil for healthier yields
Since late 2024, we have embarked on the exciting journey of constructing a 1.2 km dirt road that will connect the community to this magnificent land. This vital thoroughfare links numerous farms in the hills, igniting a surge of agricultural activity and food production that invigorates the local economy and enhances the livelihoods of farmers, market vendors, food traders, and families.
Join us as we cultivate a brighter, more sustainable future at the WildRain Ecovillage!
